Supporting Your Better Half

No matter how much preparation you do, when it comes to becoming a dad, even the best of the planners and managers flounder under the pressure. Panicking is the first thing men experience when becoming first time dads. Even with loads of information, a first time dad will have no idea what is to be done, and if what ever he is doing, is good for the new born baby and the mom.

One of the most important part of being a first time father is to understand that your partner is also becoming a first time mom (if that is the case). The pressure on her is twice as much as it is on you. Hence you need to be supportive and strong during and after the pregnancy. The fluctuation of hormones becomes more intense and you will have to avoid confrontation at all costs. Confrontation is not good for the baby or even the mom. Women go through a very difficult time, some women take it lightly, but many suffer twice the pressure and it is common for them to crack under this intense pressure. You need to realize that the moods are transient. Try to make small romantic and kind gestures such as flowers on the bed side, breakfast, rubbing the foot, doing the laundry and other things. This will assure a smooth pregnancy for you and for your partner.

Being with your partner in the last two months is very important. Especially during final days when the doctor has assigned the delivery date. Knowing what is to be done and which closest hospital you have to reach when water breaks is vital. Keep an emergency pregnancy kit always prepared. This kit will have all essential things such as clothes for your wife and new born kid and other essential things. But whatever you do, do it with a smiling face and a gladdened heart, in expectation for the blessing to come.
